Welcome

Following World War Two a renewed interest arose in the design of the articles we use every day. "Mid-century Modern," has been the subject of many articles and books. Designs and products of that era have become "collectable."

This website is a response to many requests for authentication of products  sold under the brand names of "Metalsmiths" and "Noxon" between 1954 and 1982. As a reflection of the needs and trends of the time it is a resource for researchers. Cora Golden, co-author of Design in Canada, notes; "For twenty years there rarely was a prestige corporate furnishing job in Canada that did not include some casework, upholstered pieces or accessories designed and produced by the firm."
